⑴解暑祛湿：用于外感暑湿引起的发热、胸闷、腹胀、吐泻，常配佩兰、苏叶、厚朴等。鲜藿香解暑力较强。
⑵和胃止呕：用于湿浊过盛引起的恶心呕吐。配半夏、生姜治胃寒呕吐。
⑶芳香化浊：用于脾湿胃浊引起的食欲不振、舌苔厚腻、腹泻等症，常配砂仁、木香。
该品主要有止吐，镇痛、解痉，增强细胞免疫功能和抑菌作用。
⒈镇吐：药理实验证明，藿香正气水有镇吐作用。
⒉镇痛：藿香正气水对醋酸刺激性疼痛反应（扭体法）有明显镇痛作用。
⒊解痉：藿香正气丸（水）对兔离体十二指肠有明显的抑制作用，并能对抗拟胆碱药所引起的肠痉挛；对拟胆碱药引起的狗及兔在体肠痉挛有明显的抑制作用。能对抗水杨酸毒扁豆碱引起的肠痉挛，其效果与阿托品对肠痉挛的作用相似。对离体肠平滑肌的自发活动有抑制作用，又能对抗氯化钡引起的肠痉挛，故对肠管平滑肌尚有直接抑制作用。藿香正气水对离体豚鼠、兔十二指肠的自动收缩及对组胺、乙酰胆碱、氯化钡所致的回肠收缩均有良好的解痉作用，并可对抗垂体后叶素引起的小鼠子宫收缩。
